An email will be sent to your friend annoucing your gift card and the gift codes to use when they purchase a book from Agorabooks and checkout using the code. The payment system will deduct the gift card from their purchase(s) and ask for any difference in payment. They can keep purchasing books with the same gift card code until the gift card runs out before asking more money.

Or you can setup a store credit for yourself and have it email you the codes. Which you can share with your friends and give them the gift card code to use to purchase their books. The gift card codes are good as long as there is a balance in the gift card.
